GWS Medika Participates in WONCA 2024

GWS Medika continues to innovate in primary healthcare services, as evidenced by its participation in the WONCA 2024 conference. At this conference, GWS Medika had the opportunity to share knowledge and experience regarding health technology in patient care.

The World Association of Family Medicine (WONCA) is again holding a conference on August 21-24, 2024, at the Raffles City Convention Center, Singapore. This conference is themed "Art & Science of Family Medicine."

Medical students, general practitioners, family medicine specialists, and professors from various countries, especially Asia Pacific, attended the conference.

WONCA 2024 discussed various health issues, such as primary palliative care, building doctor-patient relationships as family doctors, increasing literacy in the AI era, technology in family medicine, and research in various ASEAN countries.

dr. Koh Hau-Tek, Chief Medical Officer of GWS Medika, and dr. Dwina Prawitasari, one of the GWS Medika doctor team, had the opportunity to attend the event.

"Our presence at WONCA 2024 is an honor. We can exchange ideas with experts from various countries and learn best practices in primary health care," said dr. Dwina.

"We gained new knowledge and insights from various topics in this conference and want to apply primary health care not only in daily practice but also at the management and policy-making levels so that primary health care is more trusted by the public," she added.

At this event, dr. Dwina, currently studying the Primary Care and Family Medicine Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS KKLP) at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia, had the opportunity to present an e-Poster in front of conference attendees.

Challenges of family medicine service

The development of diseases requires family doctors to always update their disease prevention and psychosocial approaches. Family doctors also face the challenge of building patient and family trust with comprehensive and continuous management.

Family doctors can overcome these challenges by building relationships and utilizing technology and evidence-based medicine.

This conference highlights family doctors' ability to provide holistic patient management, from disease prevention to treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care. This attention shows that family doctors play a role in treating diseases, maintaining health, and improving patients' quality of life.

An increasingly solid family medicine college will encourage increased public access to quality primary health services. In addition, the college will be a strategic partner of the government to develop pro-patient health policies.

This conference also presented research on doctors' mental health in providing services for the elderly. "A healthy mentality allows doctors to provide quality services to patients," explained dr. Dwina, a doctor at the GWS Medika Kalibata Clinic, a health clinic in Jakarta.

GWS Medika's commitment

In addition to attending scientific sessions, GWS Medika also took this opportunity to expand its network with health professionals from various countries, especially in the Asia Pacific region. This networking aligns with GWS Medika's commitment to continue improving the quality of services and expanding the reach of primary health services in Indonesia.

As one of the health clinics engaged in primary health care, GWS Medika is committed to providing quality and affordable health care for the community. Through participation in international conferences like WONCA, GWS Medika has pioneered the development of primary health care in Indonesia.
