New Trends in the Workplace: Prioritizing Health, Happiness, and Productivity

In the increasingly dynamic workplace, awareness of the importance of employee health is becoming a primary concern in various companies and institutions. No longer just a routine or formality, health issues are now an important strategy to maintain productivity and create a positive workplace.
In 2025, GWS Medika is collaborating with various institutions to hold a Health Talk event. This event is a place to share information and triggers lifestyle changes, encouraging employees to care more about their physical, mental, and social health.
Managing health under work pressure
One issue that often arises in the workplace is stress—a silent enemy that can ruin more than just your mood. Not only does it affect mental health, but chronic stress can also trigger serious illnesses, such as hypertension, diabetes, heart disease, chronic lung disease, and cancer.
This issue was raised by dr. Sarah Josephine in a Health Talk session entitled “Healthy and Happy: Overcoming Stress and Illness Caused by an Unhealthy Lifestyle” (22/1).

In front of MyRepublic branch managers and sales managers from across Indonesia, she underlined that being healthy means being free from illness and mentally and socially healthy.
Stress can have an impact not both mental and physical health.
On this occasion, participants received free health checks, from blood sugar to cholesterol checks, and some received vitamin C injections as a preventive step. Behind all of this, the message is simple: health is a long-term investment.
Chronic diseases are still a threat
The results of health checks at various agencies show a worrying pattern. Diseases, such as hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, and diabetes, still dominate, indicating that unhealthy diets and lifestyles are still significant challenges.
dr. Gaby Venera, who leads Health Talk sessions at Ministry of Education and Culture, highlights this as a "hidden threat." She asked participants to see the Medical Checkup (MCU) results as a mirror rather than a number.

"Many people feel healthy, but their bodies are secretly giving them danger signals," she said in one session delivered in front of manager and employees of PT Smart Tbk and PT Sinarmas Bio Energy. Not only that, but she linked chronic diseases to obesity and the risk of metabolic syndrome, underlining the significance of actual changes, from diet and exercise to stress management.
Headaches, a sign that the body needs rest
Mild complaints, such as headaches, are often ignored, even though they can be alarms for the body. Many complaints in a company prompted a special session to discuss "cephalgia," the medical term for headaches.
In front of manager and employees PT Qualis Indonesia, dr. Gaby explained that, in addition to primary causes like migraines, many cases are caused by high blood pressure, cholesterol, sleep disorders, dehydration, and excessive caffeine consumption.
The main thing is to listen to your body. Health is more than just avoiding illness; it is also about recognizing symptoms before they become severe.
Productivity during Ramadan: mindfulness
As we approach the month of Ramadan, a new challenge arises: How can we stay productive despite changes in daily routines?
This is when mindfulness becomes relevant. In one of the Health Talk sessions with Sinarmas Techconnect, dr. Gaby invited participants to learn the "Anger Iceberg," where emotions like anger often cover up real feelings—stress, anxiety, and fatigue.
Employees can remain productive without sacrificing their physical and mental health through simple practices, such as mindful breathing, adequate rest, and dietary adjustments.
Health is not just an individual task
What is interesting about these health talks is the big message: maintaining health in the workplace is a shared responsibility. The employee's job is to live a healthy life, and the company's role is to create a supportive environment.
From providing health screening facilities and open discussion areas to creating a work culture that cares about work-life balance, all this is no longer just talk.
2025 shows that the workplace can be a center of growth, not just for the company but also for the quality of life of all employees.

Healthy employees are the greatest asset during job pressure and targets. Through proper education and real action, a healthy, happy, and productive workplace is no longer a dream but a necessity.
