GWS Medika Present at Smartkoin Festive 2024
GWS Medika also participated in the “SMARTKOIN FESTIVE 2024” event organized by Smartfren (12/8) in Batu, Malang, East Java. As a form of appreciation to partners, Smartfren provided free eye examinations with Fundus AI technology, which was carried out by the medical team from GWS Medika.
A fundus AI examination is carried out by AI (artificial intelligence). Fundusoscopy is an examination of the eye fundus that aims to assess the condition of the eye.
Fundus AI examination is carried out by taking a picture of the back of the eye, called the retina. Then, the AI from the device will produce a report containing the risks of diseases detected early by looking at the condition of blood vessels, nerves, and other structures in the retina.
This examination's accuracy reaches 90%–92%. Smartfren partners receive a health report and have the opportunity to consult with a team of doctors from GWS Medika regarding the report's interpretation. One hundred thirty participants attended the Fundus AI examination.
Health talk: diabetes, hypertension, and retinopathy
After the examination, on the synchronization stage, dr. Almer Deta Tarandha explained the conclusions of the examination results from all participants. The results of the Fundus AI examination were quite diverse. Most participants had good eye health conditions, although some should consult their condition with an eye specialist.
In addition to providing the examination results, dr. Almer discussed conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes, and how they might cause retinopathy.
Andrijanto Muljono, the Chief Executive Officer of PT Smartfren, also actively asked dr. Almer about the accuracy of the Fundus AI examination.
"This Fundus AI has a database of 20 million retinal images used as the basis for the examination, resulting in an accuracy level of more than 90%. Although the AI system makes this examination easier, there still needs to be a doctor to accompany them to read the results," he explained.
The collaboration between GWS Medika and Smartfren in the Smartkoin Festive 2024 event offered tangible advantages to partners.
Free eye examinations with AI technology raise awareness of the importance of eye health and provide early detection of various eye diseases. This event proves that health technology and telecommunications companies can positively impact society.
