dr. Dayu D. Deria Presents Scientific Poster at PERKI Cardiovascular Expo 2024

The Indonesian Cardiovascular Specialist Doctors Association (PERKI) held the PERKI Cardiovascular Expo 2024 to commemorate 67 years of dedication and innovation in cardiovascular care in Indonesia (12/1).

The event was held at the JW Marriott Hotel, Mega Kuningan, Jakarta, with the topic “Explore The Beat of Innovation: Where Heart and Science Converge”.

The event featured various activities, including a symposium, a science & innovation fair, and a scientific poster session designed to increase knowledge and encourage collaboration among medical professionals.

Symposium

In this symposium, researchers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals gather to discuss the latest developments in the cardiovascular field.

Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics, such as coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology, dyslipidemia, hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, cardiovascular emergencies, cardiovascular imaging, and cardiometabolic diseases.

In addition to broadening horizons, this symposium seeks to establish collaboration between cardiologists, general practitioners, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.

Participants had the opportunity to earn continuing education credits, accredited by the Ministry of Health (SKP Kemenkes), while updating their knowledge on the latest developments in cardiovascular health.

This event serves as a platform to promote scientific excellence and introduces practical, efficient, and safe innovations for the everyday management of cardiovascular diseases.

Scientific poster

dr. Dayu D. Deria, one of the doctors at the GWS Medika Permata Hijau Medical Centre, was one of the poster presenters among 60 other participants who passed the selection and were selected. She delivered a scientific poster entitled "Chemotherapy-Induced Cardiotoxicity and Recurrent Ischemic Events in Elderly Patients: A Case Report and Lesson Learnt for Clinical Practice".

dr. Dayu examined the clinical challenges and innovative solutions in dealing with chemotherapy-induced cardiac toxicity in elderly patients. Some chemotherapy medicines can cause damage to the heart, leading to cardiotoxicity, which can present as heart failure, arrhythmias, or other cardiovascular issues.

In elderly patients, the risk of developing cardiotoxicity due to chemotherapy agents may increase due to age-related decline in cardiac function and the presence of comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, or a history of heart disease.

Furthermore, chemotherapy may increase the risk of repeated ischemic events because the heart may be more susceptible to reduced blood flow during or after treatment.

Through this presentation, GWS Medika demonstrates its commitment to evidence-based cardiovascular treatment while also emphasizing GWS Medika's active engagement in innovative and collaborative clinical practice.
