DTP Combo 6-in-1 Vaccine: How Effective Is It?

Every parent wants the best for their child including protection from dangerous diseases. Immunization is one of the most effective ways to keep our children healthy.

Did you know that the DTP Combo vaccine protects your child against six diseases in a single shot?

What is the DTP combo vaccine?

The DTP Combo vaccine is administered in several doses to babies and children aged 2 months to 5 years. This vaccine is safe and effective in protecting children from six diseases:

1. Diphtheria

Bacterial infections can block the respiratory tract, causing the child to stop breathing or even die.

2. Tetanus

Prevent infections caused by tetanus bacteria, which attack untreated wounds.

3. Pertussis

Protects against a hundred-day cough, a persistent cough that causes difficult breathing.

4. Polio IPV

Protects against the polio virus, which causes paralysis.

5. HiB

HiB causes inflammation of the brain, pneumonia, and ear infections.

6. Hepatitis B

This viral infection can cause yellow eyes and skin, further infection, and even lead to liver cancer.

Vaccination schedule

According to the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI), your child should get five doses (including three doses for babies and two booster shots for children) of the DTP vaccine, usually at the following ages:

Dose 1: 2 months

Dose 2: 3 months

Dose 3: 4 months

Dose 4: 18 months

Dose 5: 5 years

In adults, the DTP vaccine is administered every ten years.
