Together with Nanovest and GWS Medika, Promoting Health in Rusun Benhil

On Saturday (28/9), Nanovest, in collaboration with GWS Medika Sudirman Park Clinic, held a community service activity at RPTRA Rusun Benhill.

This activity is intended to help the local community, especially children who are malnourished, have not received complete immunizations, and are in less supportive socio-economic conditions.

On this occasion, GWS Medika, with its commitment to public health services, provided medical services and health education to the participants. The main goal is to increase public awareness about the importance of maintaining children's nutrition and health from an early age.

Health talk

In a health talk, dr. Anindita Tathya Jati explained the importance of preventing malnutrition and improving nutritional patterns in children who experience dietary problems. This is very relevant, considering that many children in the area have nutritional issues due to economic constraints and a lack of knowledge about healthy eating patterns.

"We found six children experiencing stunting. We urge their parents to immediately increase their children's nutritional intake and monitor their development regularly," said dr. Tathya in a healthy talk session with parents.

She added, "For other parents, let's maintain our children's nutritional intake and health. Together, we can prevent stunting and create a better future for the next generation."

Child growth and development examination

In addition to the educational session, dr. Kevin Dyonghar, Manager of GWS Medika Sudirman Park Clinic, also conducted growth and development examinations on dozens of children aged 2 to 5. This examination is critical to monitor whether their growth is within age standards.

The examination showed that several children did not grow according to age. Meanwhile, many parents complained that their children had difficulty eating or experienced GTM (closed mouth movement).

In response, GWS Medika provided a practical solution in the form of a healthy, affordable, and easily accessible menu guide booklet for families with economic limitations. The guide is equipped with information about "Isi Piringku" and trivia about healthy food.

In addition to examinations and education, GWS Medika distributes milk to children to support their daily nutritional intake. This step is expected to help children with difficulty eating get the additional nutrition they need. Education about the importance of immunization, including its positive impact on children's growth and development, is also provided.

BCG immunization, for example, is due to the high number of cases of pulmonary tuberculosis. The disease can reduce nutrient absorption, increase the risk of malnutrition, and cause stunting.

"During the examination, we found children with stunting who had a history of pulmonary tuberculosis. This finding shows the importance of BCG immunization in preventing tuberculosis and lowering the risk of stunting," explained dr. Tathya.

In this activity, GWS Medika provides medical services and ongoing education to the community to increase their knowledge and awareness of the importance of maintaining children's health. This aligns with GWS Medika's vision, which seeks to integrate a preventive approach to improving the community's quality of life.

Through this program, GWS Medika hopes to help the community in RPTRA Rusun Benhil understand better the importance of balanced nutrition, immunization, and monitoring of child growth and development to prevent more severe health problems in the future.

"We hope to be involved again in similar activities or advanced health services, such as free treatment. That way, we can continue to benefit the community," concluded dr. Kevin.
